Common workplaces

The Institute of Measurement Science of the Slovak Academy of Sciences currently has these joint workplaces:

  • National NMR Center

arose from the solution of the thematic state program of research and development “Comprehensive solution of support and efficient use of infrastructure” with the task of completing a top laboratory focusing on nuclear magnetic resonance.

  • Laboratory of Preclinical NMR Research SISCO

is a joint workplace with the University Hospital Bratislava and the Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology STU focused on preclinical magnetic resonance research and imaging. The laboratory is equipped with a 4.7 T MR tomograph and provides infrastructure for in vivo NMR experiments, MR data analysis and the development of new MR methodologies. The Institute of Measurement Science SAS acts as the administrator of the laboratory.
  • Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava
The joint laboratory for physical non-destructive investigation of works of art focuses on the development and application of methods and technical tools for optical non-destructive testing, especially infrared reflectography, infrared thermography, ultraviolet fluorescence, X-ray radiography, and microtomography (microCT). Within the cooperation, the Institute of Measurement Science SAS focuses on the development and application of non-destructive testing methods and digital image data processing methods, while the Department of Restoration of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design provides suitable artistic and historical works and applies the results of non-destructive testing at various stages of artifact restoration.

  • University of Žilina
Joint workplace of the Institute of Measurement Science SAS and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Žilina. Cooperation between the contracting parties aimed at exchanging important scientific information in fields in which both entities operate, as well as cooperation in organising Slovak and international professional and scientific events.
