Call for Prospective IMPULZ Applicants

The Institute of Measurement Science of the Slovak Academy of Sciences is open to cooperation with strong and promising researchers who plan to apply independently to the IMPULZ Programme, the Slovak Academy of Sciences’ flagship funding initiative for excellent research and scientific leadership (https://impulz.sav.sk/en).

We welcome candidates whose research vision aligns with the Institute’s scientific profile, including measurement science, metrology, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, biomedical engineering, signal processing, EEG and ECG analysis, brain–computer interfaces, sensor systems, X-ray microtomography, magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy, data analysis, modelling, machine learning, and related interdisciplinary fields.

About the IMPULZ Programme

The programme is open to internationally recognised scientists and promising early-career researchers across all disciplines. It offers an opportunity to establish an independent research team, pursue original scientific ideas, and develop innovative research directions with international relevance and impact.

The programme offers:

  • annual funding of up to EUR 160,000;
  • project duration of up to five years;
  • support for frontier research and research-team development;
  • greater research independence and autonomy;
  • support for preparing an ERC grant application;
  • opportunities to contribute to the internationalisation and competitiveness of Slovak science within the European Research Area.

Candidate Profile

Candidates should have:

  • a PhD or equivalent qualification;
  • a strong research record and publication potential;
  • an original and well-developed research vision;
  • the ability to prepare the IMPULZ proposal independently;
  • the potential to establish and lead their own research team;
  • a good command of English.

This call is intended for researchers who already have a clear project concept and are able to manage the application process with a high degree of independence.

The Institute may provide limited cooperation in assessing the scientific fit of the proposed project and, where appropriate, in providing the necessary host-institution documentation. Potential hosting would be considered only for successful applicants and would remain subject to mutual agreement and institutional approval.
