Characterization of magnetic properties of materials using AC susceptometry
PhD study program: Measurement Technology
Academic year: 2024-2025
Advisor: Mgr. Martin Škrátek, PhD. (martin.skratek@savba.sk)
External educational institution: Institute of Measurement Science SAS
Accepting university: Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Institute of Electrical Engineering
Annotation:
AC susceptometry offers a fast and easy method for investigating various properties of magnetic materials. The aim of the dissertation will be the design and construction of an ac susceptometer working at room temperature, which will be suitable for the investigation of small-volume samples and its use in the characterization of magnetic materials (nanoparticles, etc.). The student will become familiar with the principles of ac susceptometry, magnetic relaxometry, but also the SQUID magnetometer. Applicant should have knowledge of electronics and magnetism within range of technical and natural science university study programs and good knowledge of technical English. Knowledge of controlling programs for processing measured data, experimental skills, and knowledge of the design of electronic circuits are also advantageous. The dissertation will be solved at the Institute of Measurement of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava.
