Open Day 2019
The Open Day at the Institute of Measurement Science of the Slovak Academy of Sciences will take place as part of the European Science and Technology Week on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. For more information, see invitation (in Slovak).
Program of the Open Day:
Time: from 09:00 until 14:00, start of visits to individual laboratories every half hour
Place: Laboratories of your choice:
- Experimental NMR tomograph TMR 96 (ground floor, no. 012). In the laboratory, explanations and practical demonstrations of the operation of a research tomograph based on magnetic resonance will be presented. (Prof. Ing. Frollo, DrSc.),
- Laboratory of the National NMR Center – ESAOTE tomograph for small samples (ground floor, No. 009). The laboratory will provide explanations and practical demonstrations of the research tomograph’s activities (Ing. Andris, PhD.),
- Laboratory of X-ray Microtomography (ground floor, No. 002). The laboratory will present methods of X-ray microtomography in research in materials science, electrical engineering, mineralogy, biology and protection of cultural heritage (RNDr. Hain, PhD.),
- Laboratory for measuring the magnetic properties of materials (1st floor, no. 112). Presentation of the possibilities of magnetometry and demonstration of the results obtained using the most sensitive magnetic field sensor – SQUID (Mgr. Škrátek, PhD.),
- Laboratory of biomeasurements (5th floor, No. 506). In the laboratory the principles of measuring and modeling the electrical activity of the heart, as well as measuring other biosignals will be explained and demonstrated (Ing. Švehlíková, PhD.),
- Laboratory of the Department of Theoretical Methods (5th floor, No. 501). Examples of measurement and analysis of the influence of electromagnetic fields on cells (Mgr. Teplan, PhD.).
