Conference MEASUREMENT 2019
On May 27-29, 2019, the 12th International Conference on Measurement Science MEASUREMENT 2019 was held in the Congress Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Smolenice.
The main organizer of the conference was the Institute of Measurement Science of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. The event was technically sponsored by the Czechoslovak IEEE Section, the Slovak Technical Committees TC7 Measurement Science and TC13 Measurements in Biology and Medicine of the IMEKO Confederation, the Slovak Metrology Society, the Slovak National Committee U.R.S.I. and Society of Biomedical Engineering and Medical Informatics.
A total of 75 registered participants from 11 countries participated at MEASUREMENT 2019 (Austria, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine).
Special Organized Sessions
In addition to traditional research topics (theoretical problems of measurement, measurement of physical quantities, measurements in biomedicine), in 2019 the conference was extended to include special organized sessions focused on
- Methods for Measurements Evaluation in Metrology
- Imaging Methods of Biological Objects
- Causal Relations in Measured Data
- Advanced ECG Measurements, Simulation and Evaluation
Modern Trends in Measurement Science
Modern trends in Measurement Science were presented by experts in five Keynote Lectures:
- Yesim Serinagaoglu Dogrusoz (Turkey): Statistical Estimation Applied to Electrocardiographic Imaging
- Pavel Jurák (Czech Republic): High-Frequency Cardiac Electrophysiology
- Ignacio Lira (Chile): The GUM Revision: Where do We Stand? A Personal View
- Milan Paluš (Czech Republic): Causality and Information Transfer Across Time Scales
- Martin Krssak (Austria): MR-Based Metabolic Characterisation of Skeletal Muscle: Methods and Applications
In addition, 31 oral presentations and 40 posters were presented.
Young Investigator Award Competition
Active participation and quality of contributions from PhD students and young scientists up to 35 were encouraging. International Young Investigator Award Competition Jury of experts led by its chairman, Igor Zakharov from Ukraine, assessed a total of 13 presentations of young researchers (7 posters and 6 lectures) and praised the best oral and the best poster presentations:
- Zuzana Rošťáková (Slovakia): Three-Way Analysis of Multichannel EEG Data Using PARAFAC and Tucker Models. Winner of Young Investigator Award MEASUREMENT 2019 for Best Oral Presentation.
- Rupali Tiwari (Slovakia): Uncertainty Analysis of Pulse Transient Model Accounting Thermal Contact Effect. Winner of Young Investigator Award MEASUREMENT 2019 for Best Poster Presentation.
In addition to the scientific program, during the conference, there was a rich social and cultural program that, despite the bad weather, helped develop participants’ discussions about new trends in the field of Measurement Sciences.
