Open call/position for excellent researchers in category R3 within the framework of the Recovery and Resilience Plan for Slovakia in the field of mathematical statistics
Offer Description
The Institute of Measurement Science at the Slovak Academy of Sciences is actively seeking a distinguished and highly motivated scientist with expertise in the field of mathematical statistics.
This position calls for a established researcher at the R3 level, funded through the “Stipends for excellent researchers R2-R4” initiative under the Recovery Plan for Europe scheme. Further details about this scheme can be found here: https://vaia.gov.sk/sk/2023/06/27/stipendia-pre-excelentnych-vyskumnikov-a-vyskumnicky-r2-r4/. The appointment is for a fixed term of up to 2 years.
The primary responsibilities will involve conducting exceptional, independent research in mathematical statistics with the objective of advancing knowledge, specifically emphasizing applications in measurement science (IMS SAS is focused on ECG, EEG, NMR and other measurements of physical and biomedical objects). These applications encompass a range of topics, including measurement uncertainty analysis, nonparametric and multivariate methods, stochastic processes, and the fusion of information from diverse sources. Specifically, we anticipate that the selected candidate will:
- Conduct high-quality research centered on specific topics to drive advancements in the field of mathematical statistics.
- Provide mentorship to PhD candidates and visiting students as needed.
- Actively participate in other research endeavors conducted at IMS SAS.
- Effectively disseminate research outcomes to both the scientific community and the general public.
- Publish original findings in highly impactful journals.
The successful candidate will be awarded a fellowship through the “Stipends for excellent researchers R2-R4” program under the Recovery Plan for Europe scheme. An R3-level researcher typically receives a net monthly salary of approximately €2,580 or a gross monthly salary of €3,567 plus other benefits (€1,256 social and health insurance paid by the employer).
This fellowship includes supplementary funds for research expenses (€1,300 per month of the project) and personnel expenses for the research team (up to €2,000 per month for an R3 researcher).
The project’s duration ranges from 12 to 24 months and must conclude no later than June 30, 2026.
IMS SAS offers a dynamic and modern research environment that presents an excellent opportunity to advance your scientific career.
