PROBASTAT 2011 - the Sixth International Conference on Probability and Statistics has been held in Smolenice Castle, Slovakia, from July 4 to July 8, 2011. More information about the conference can be found on the conference web page.
Conference honoring the 80th birthday of Professor Lubomír Kubáček
The mission of PROBASTAT conferences is to stimulate exchanges of ideas and research in the field of probability and statistics.
The history of the PROBASTAT conference goes back more than 35 years. The initial series of national conferences was followed by the first international PROBASTAT in 1991 held at Comenius University in Bratislava. Further conferences in the series occurred in 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2006, all jointly organized by the Slovak Academy of Sciences (Institute of Measurement Science and Mathematical Institute) and Comenius University in Bratislava (the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics). Researchers in the field of probability and statistics have met and enjoyed the friendly and relaxed academic atmosphere in the beautiful environment of the Smolenice Castle. We hope that the sixth international PROBASTAT will continue this tradition: the same location, the same organizing institutions, the same atmosphere.
PROBASTAT 2011 has included invited and contributed talks and posters in the following research areas:
- Regression and Mixed Models;
- Optimum Experimental Design;
- Random Processes;
- Innovative Statistical Practices.
The proceedings of the conference will be published as a special issue of the journal Tatra Mountains Mathematical Publications. For more details see the Instructions for Authors.
