Organization of conferences is one of the important roles of the Institute of Measurement Science defined also in its founding documents. In its history, the Institute participated in organization of many seminars, workshops, sumposia, conferences and congresses. Besides that, coworkers of the Institute were members of program and organizing committees of many additional national and international scientific meetings. On this web page you can find information about Past Conferences and Comming conferences organized by the Institute:
In the last few years to the most important conferences periodically organized by the Institute of Measurement Science SAS belong especially two conferences shown below:
MEASUREMENT Conferences
After discontinuance of the tradition of EMISCON conferences in 1991, new scientific forum was initiated for the research area covered by the Institute - MEASUREMENT workshop. Six such workshops were organized and their traditional venue became the Smolenice castle. Despite the original aim of the workshop was to allow confrontation of the results obtained in the Institute with the situation in top foreign research institutions represented by a few invited lectures, later the workshop changed to an open international scientific forum accessible to all specialists in measurement theory, research of measuring methods of physical quantities, mathematic and computer modeling of bionic structures, medical imaging and development of measuring systems for biomedicine.
Based on obtained experience, the original workshop has changed to the first international conference MEASUREMENT. This event was organized in cooperation with Institute of Machine technology TU Vienna, Austria, Institute of Machine technology TU Kielce, Poland and Faculty of Electrical engineering Western Czech University Pilsen, Czech republic. The MEASUREMENT'97 conference created the basis of a two-year cycle of friendly scientific meetings of specialists from different fields of Measurement Science. During the conference, sessions on Theoretical Problems of Measurement, Measurement of Physical Quantities and Measurement in Biomedicine use to be the core topics complemented with another specific sessions. ProbaStat Conferences
ProbaStat international conferences on matematical statistics are traditionally organized by Institute of Measurement Science in cooperation with Faculty of Mathematics, Ohysics andInformatics of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava and Union of Slovak Mathematicians and Physicists.
ProbaStat conferences continue in the long-time traditon of national Czech-Slovak conferences, the first of them being organized in 1975. The first international conference was held on August 26-30, 1991 in Bratislava and was followed by conferences in 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2006 in the Smolenice castle.
