Eight annual czech-slovak conference with international attendance Trends in Biomedical Engineering 2009 took place at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava on September 16 - 18, 2009. In the conference that is organized alternately in different places in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia this time attended 85 participants. The coference was organized by Faculty of Electrical Engineering and information Technology, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava and Institute of Measurement Science SAS in Bratislava in cooperation with Slovak Society of Biomedical Engineering and Medical Informatics of the Slovak Medical Association and Society of Biomedical Engineering and Medical Informatics of the Czech Medical Association of J.E.Purkyne.
The conference was organized under the auspices of the dean of FEIIT STU in Bratislava assoc.prof. Ing. Ján Vajda, CSc. The aim of the conference was to show current status of biomedical technology and trends of its future development, to present results of the research in different fields and to advise the results of pedagogical and research activities in particular university, research and healthcare institutions, namely in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia.
Within the conference 88 papers, thereof 59 oral presentations and 29 posters were presented, autors of 18 papers presented invited papers. Besides that, organizers of the conference included in the program also papers from institutions from othe countries: BMTI TU Ilmenau from Germany, ZBMTP MUW Vienna and MED-EL Innsbruck from Austria. he papers were organized in 11 sessions devoted to medical devices, measuring and imaging methods in medicine, processing and analysis of biomedical signals and images, modeling of biosystems, biomedical informatics, biomechanics and biomaterials in medicine, nanotechnologies in medicine, biofotonics and optoelectronics, radiology and nuclear medicine, biological effects of electromagnetic firlds and education in biomedical engineering.
WIthin the confernce also student work competition took place and 3 best papers (Ing. Prauzek from FEI TU Ostrava, Bc. Vrbová from FBMI CTU in Prague, Bc. Igaz from FEIIT STU in Bratislava) were awarded by a diplom, financial prize and subscription to the journal Clinician and Technology.
