Measurement 2009

The 7th International Conference on Measurement was traditionally held in the conference center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in the beautiful Smolenice castle on May 20-23, 2009.

One hundred and twelve participants and nine accompanying persons from 16 countries (Austria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Switzerland, The Netherlands) registered for the conference. Nine oral and two poster sessions were organized with 45 oral presentations (including 3 invited lectures and 1 introductory talk) and 42 posters. Eleven papers were submitted to a Young Investigator Competition. From them, Peter Eredics from Hungary was awarded for the best oral presentation and Vladimír Juráš from Slovakia for the best poster.

Meas2009_procPrinted proceedings (444 pages, editors Milan Tyšler, Ján Maňka and Viktor Witkovský, ISBN 978-80-969672-1-6), were published at the time of the conference. On request they are available from the organizers.

Winners of the competition and authors of selected papers were invited to submit extended papers for publication in the on-line journal Measurement Science Review published by Versita - Central European Science Publisher and indexed in Index Copernicus International and Thomson Reuters Master Journal List .

The conference covered broad range of measurement science issues from theoretical problems of measurement, measurement in physics, measurement in biomedicine to specific measuring systems. Measuring systems for research, industry and medicine were introduced.

Besides the rich scientific program, excursions to the nuclear power plant Jaslovské Bohunice, to the traditional pottery "Slovenská majolika" in Modra and to castle "Červený kameň" and a hiking tour to Little Carpatians were organized. Program for accompanying persons included also trip to Driny cave and Molpír. During dinners, Pacora Trio and group Červeník offered enjoyable music to the participants. The comfortable environment of the castle helped to create pleasant atmosphere for fruitful discussions and making new partnerships and friendships.
