The 5th international conference MEASUREMENT 2005 was held in the Congress Center od the Slova Academy of Sciences in Smolenice on May 15 - 19, 2005.
The conference was organized by the Institute of Measurement Science SAS under the auspices of international organizations IMEKO TC-7, TC-13, TC-4 and IEEE in cooperation with Technical University in Vienna (Austria), Technical University in Kielce (Poland), Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague (Czech Republic) and institutions from Slovakia: Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology STU, Institute for Normalization, Metrology and Testing in Slovak Republic, Slovak Institute of Metrology, Slovak Metrological Society and Slovak National Committee U.R.S.I.
More than 150 participants of the conference were from Slovakia and another 18 countries (Brazil, Belgien, Czech Republic, France, The Netherlands, Chroatien, India, Iran, Japan, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Germany, Poland, Austia, Russia, Switzerland and USA).
The conference was divided into sessions 1. Theoretical Problems of Measurement, 2. Measurement in Biomedicine, Measurement of Physical Quantities, 4. Poster Session. In the program there were 60 oral presentations, 1 invited lecture (prof. Dr. J. Volaufová, PhD) and 66 posters.
Wide scale of information was contained in the presentations, from basic and applied research up to practical measuring methods applied in practice.
Printed poceedings of the conference MEASUREMENT 2005: 5rd International Conference on Measurement / Ed. Ivan Frollo, Milan Tyšler, Vladimír Juraš. - Bratislava: Institute of Measurement Science, SAS, 2005. - ISBN 80-967402-8-8 (578 pages) were published at the time of the conference.
The aim of the conference, to activate the position of the "Measurement Science" was fulfilled and important international role of the Institute of Measurement Science SAS in this field was confirmed.
