Bilateral project between Slovak Academy of Sciences and Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
Duration of the project: 07/2006 - 12/2008
Principal investigator (SK): Doc. RNDr. Viktor Witkovský, CSc.
Principal investigator (CZ): RNDr. Milan Paluš, DrSc.
Project partners: Institute of Measurement Science of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and Institute of Computer Science Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
In 2006 the project proposal was selected as a Prior Theme for cooperation between Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and Slovak Academy of Sciences for the period 2006 - 2008.
Project Summary
Nonlinear dynamics and statistics are two, not necessarily integrated research areas dealing with the analysis of complex signals. The objective of the project is to develop, in cooperation of the specialists in the field of nonlinear dynamics and statistics, the new approaches to the analysis of complex (especially electophysiological) signals, applicable for neurophysiological and cardiovascular physiology.
In 2008 the methods for detection of the phase synchronization based on the wavelet transform and their use in the context of EEG during the audio-visual stimulation have been studied and tested on real data. Next phase coherence were calculated for the sleep EEG data and the results evaluated for different sleep states. The results were presented at the Conference Nonlinear Physiology, Brain, Respiratory and Cardiac Causalities in Anaesthesia, Ljubljana, Slovenia, 23-27 September 2008.
