Project Summary
The project is aimed at research of visually-oculomotor integration and changes in selected neuropsychiatric disorders using new methods for analyzing eye movements and the accompanying electrical activity of the brain. Changes in the visually-oculomotor regulation are specified in relation by setiopatogenesis of several central nervous system disorders. The aim is to contribute to the clarification of neuronal mechanisms of visually-oculomotor regulation in normal and pathological conditions and direction to new diagnostic methods and ways of evaluating the therapy effectiveness of several neuropsychiatric diseases.
Results
Several methods have been developed for assessing the standard of cooperation between the various areas of cerebral cortex. The degree of synchronization in the EEG was evaluated through several types of coherence and phase synchronization. For this purpose, the possibilities for using wavelet analysis of the EEG signals were studied, with subsequent extraction of phase differences, and other specific statistical processing.
